This Ace Bristol, in particular, left the Thames Ditton factory on the 24th of May 1960, as specified in Black Pearl coachwork paired with Red leather and a black top and tonneau. The agent who sold the Ace was none other than Ken Rudd's outfit, K.N Rudd Ltd of Worthing Sussex, and was received by the first owner, Mrs D Probert of Walnut Creek, California. The Ace remained at Proberts UK residence. The ownership chain is covered in a continuation buff log bog showing the second owner as a famed Automotive and Military vehicle designer, Robert Jankel. He acquired the vehicle in the spring of 1963, following a five-year custodianship; he then sold the Ace in July 1968 to Mr James Wright of Yorkshire. Mr Wright would go on to use the car well, with some lovely period photographs on file; he would be the registered keeper for the next fifty-one years when the most recent owner purchased the motorcar.

He would embark on a ground-up restoration at the AC heritage works, stripping the Ace to a bare chassis, fitting it on our factory jig brackets, and ensuring the vehicle was to original specification, retaining as much of the original tube work as possible. All aluminium work was carried out on our original wooden AC Ace bucks from Thames Ditton. As you'd expect, the entire drivetrain was rebuilt at this time with a nicely specified Quaife ATB differential. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt at this time with the addition of an overdrive, a much-needed essential for touring.

The coachwork was returned to the stunning original specification of Black Pearl with Red Leather Trim. New weather gear was supplied, and the factory hardtop was repainted at this time. With only 400 miles since restoration, this Ace is one of the finest examples on the market and is ready to be enjoyed.
