AC Cars made a severe impact on the sports car industry, when the Ace was revealed at the 1953 London Motor show, with its simply elegant body, and John Tojeiro's thoughtfully engineered chassis, In the hands of the Hurlock brothers working alongside Tojeiro, they produced a vehicle with four wheel independent suspension, with a simplistic chassis design based around two three inch diameter tubes. The Aces initially were produced with the John Weller designed AC two litre straight six engine that had been continuously developed from its origin in 1919,even though these pre war engines had been developed over the years, they only provided a respectable 105 horsepower at there peak, a higher powered modern engine was needed, After 220 cars had been produced by 1956, Race driver Ken Rudd of the tuning shop Ruddspeed of Worthing inspired the AC factory to install the 120 horsepower Bristol engine, these engines offered high power from standard were capable of a higher state of tune. The change in power plant made the Ace a staple on the track, Ace Bristols ran successfully at Le Mans from 1957 to 1962 by various entrants, best placing at 7th Place Overall in 1959 in the hands of Ken Rudd and John Turner. However, it was on a domestic club level where Ace Bristols earned their reputation as supreme racing machines. Only 680 cars were produced prior to being used as the platform of the brutal V8 Cobra.

This Ace Bristol left the Thames Ditton Factory on 14th April 1958 was supplied new to the french AC distributorAndre Chardonett of Paris, once the car had arrived it was purchased immediately by Gerad Blain, the Actor and Director by trade, he was involved in over sixty french films up till his death in 2000, the vehicle is seen in period photographs of a young Blain and associates in awe of the British craftsmanship.

The vehicle has been authenticated that it retains all matching boot, bonnet and door numbers, also it is powered by a Bristol 100D2 engine.

The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2007 and completed a body off restoration attending to chassis and bodywork followed by completely overhauling all components including drivetrain, suspension,brakes, including many practical upgrades including installation of a aluminium radiator and a synchromesh gearbox for the use of first gear, it still retains elements of its past including interior trim that show patina. The vehicle has seen some competitive track use in 2014, placing 4th in the Bentley Drivers Club, 60th anniversary race for the AC Ace, it also participated at the 72nd Goodwood members meeting.
